From the Heart of An Adoptive Father

by Kay on July 6, 2010

Before The Dawn

It’s early in the morning
Two hours before the light
I look around to see who’s there
No one is in sight.

I set both baskets by the gate
Kneeling to the ground
Tying my shoe, I say good-bye
I know you will be found.

Standing up I look once more
Up and down the street
My hand picks up one basket
The task is now complete.

Please don’t cry my darling
Let me walk away
My heart remains there with you
Until my dying day.

Silent Tears is a book that I want to finish front to back in one shot.
My story of adoption is still in progress. It began in 1998, when adoption of someone you desire was not allowed and the Chinese government only allowed those imperfect in orphanages dictated by the government. We found an abandoned girl in a hospital and took her out of the country and by a round about way to join us in our country. Now she is 12 and we are still looking for that day when her identity can be legalized. We have spent a lot of money, but still “Waiting for Godot” who will come one day, for sure.
