I LOVE this post! I rescued my french bulldog when he was just a pup and people think I've lost my mind, I'm so crazy about that dog. It's something that non-animal lovers can't understand. I am convinced that Walter is not a dog, but a special angel sent to watch over our family!

Marie,

You are right! We have the sweetest cat who we adopted from a Georgia shelter. Her name is Gypsy and she has stolen our hearts. While I do feel bad for leaving her every day, I know that she is probably satisfied to lay at the window and snooze. My daughter and I give her extra attention when we do arrive at home and she seems content at the arrangements. They told us she had been in the shelter for months and I can't imagine why--she has turned into such a wonderful little pet for our family. I still miss Lexi, but Gypsy helps to fill that void.

The same is true for shelter cats. There are sooooooo many cats who need homes because people do not have their pets altered, and allow kittens to be born indiscriminately. When they can't find homes for the kittens, they abandon them or give them to a shelter. For busy people who can't be home much during the day, a cat (or preferably two) is a WONDERFUL, loving pet. They are clean, low-maintenance, and very affectionate.
